About The  Woman's Club of Gulfport
                and Hurricane Katrina

A note dated October 31, 2005 to GFWC clubwomen from Jana Jarrell, President of Woman's Club of Gulfport

Dear Friends,
As a result of Hurricane Katrina, the Woman's Club of Gulfport has sustained a devastating blow. Our beautiful club house was completely destroyed. All that remains is the concrete slab. We are blessed that there was no loss of human life and for that we are truly thankful. However, it is with much sadness that I must report that 17 of our 35 members are now without homes. Details are sketchy because many of our members (the ones that still have homes) still remain without telephone or e-mail service. I just received service myself last week.

The entire Mississippi Gulf Coast continues to suffer. We face a very long road of repairing and rebuilding. The Woman's Club of Gulfport would like to thank all who have prayed, volunteered, contributed supplies and money, or helped in any way. It is with your continued strength and support that we will survive.

God bless and keep you,
Jana Jarrell, President
Woman's Club of Gulfport
